Four mandatory units, taught through surfing, skateboarding and coastal activities:
- Participating in Sport
- Outdoor and Adventurous Activities
- Leading an Outdoor Activity Session
- Plan, Deliver and Evaluate an Activity Session
Pupils can also work towards optional extra qualifications: RLSS Beach Lifeguard, Surfing England Level 1 Instructor and Skateboarding GB Level 1.

Assessment is coursework-based, through written assignments, practical skill demonstration and reflection on performance.
Where it leads
Where it leads
The course opens progression into sport, coaching and outdoor leadership. It links to Coastal Adventures under the Outdoor Education strand of the Expansive Curriculum, and to the Surf Academy and surf scholarships. Lessons use the location as a resource, beside the North Devon World Surfing Reserve, at the UK Surf School of the Year 2026.
