Straightforward, and welcoming
As a non-selective school, our process is simple. To apply we ask for:
A copy of the student’s passport, ID page
The student’s last two school reports
Where applicable, a placement interview and an English placement test for non-native speakers, advised at our discretion on application
Language grows alongside subject learning
Students learning English are well supported here. We provide EAL teaching and ongoing English language development, so that language does not hold learning back. A dedicated International Coordinator helps each new student settle, and cultural celebrations through the year keep every heritage visible and valued.
Where a placement test is advised, it simply helps us set the right level of support from day one.
Community, friendship and feeling at home
Our boarding team offers 24/7 pastoral care, so students feel safe, known and cared for. Boys board in Longfield House and girls in Belvoir House, both friendly, comfortable and welcoming, with study-bedrooms that quickly feel like the student’s own.
There are no compulsory exeat weekends, and families who wish their child to remain on site can choose our supervised half-term boarding programme.
Weekends here are full and varied
Boarders take part in a vibrant programme that includes trips to beaches and national parks, on-site creative and sports clubs, formal dinners and student-led events, with prep support always available.
The North Devon location is part of the education. The beaches are less than ten minutes away, Exmoor and the UNESCO North Devon Biosphere are close by, and surfing on the North Devon coast - a World Surf Reserve - is a favourite with our international students.

Which programme suits my child’s age?
Younger students often begin with Year 9 (Pre-GCSE) before moving into the GCSE Programme. Students arriving at 15+ can take the One-Year GCSE, and older students join A Level or BTEC pathways, with the Top University Programme for those aiming at the most competitive universities.
