Every pupil seen by name and known by their teachers
Wellbeing is the starting point, not an add-on. A child who feels safe and valued grows in confidence, and confidence is what lets them try, take feedback and keep going. Pastoral care, specialist teaching and a calm, purposeful atmosphere give young people the security to take on more than they thought they could.
Kingsley is led by Headteacher Mr Robert Pavis, MA Ed, and the whole staff share one aim: happier, healthier, more confident young people who achieve because they flourish.
Five pathways, alongside a Core Curriculum with routes to suit every ambition
Pupils work towards GCSEs, with vocational and applied options including BTEC, NCFE, CamNat and ASDAN, so each child follows the mix that fits them best. Core lessons run in the mornings, and the Expansive Curriculum follows in longer afternoon pathway sessions that every pupil takes part in.

Specialist SEND provision helps pupils who learn differently access the full curriculum alongside their peers. Kingsley is Devon and Cornwall's only CReSTeD-accredited school, recognised for its provision for pupils with dyslexia and other specific learning differences.

Confidence, creativity and resilience, right through school life
Kingsley is a genuine sporting hub, home to the only World Rugby and FIFA-approved all-weather pitch in North Devon, with sport open to everyone, from inclusive sessions to focused academies.
The arts give pupils a stage through plays, concerts and exhibitions, recognised by our Artsmark Silver Award. Outdoor Education, including Coastal Adventures, takes young people onto the water and into the countryside to develop teamwork, leadership and independence.
The setting is part of the teaching
Kingsley lies within the UNESCO North Devon Biosphere and in one of only 14 World Surfing Reserves worldwide. Our own 24 acres of sports fields, woodland and rewilding projects give pupils room to learn outside every week, and the sea and countryside nearby become part of the timetable.
Pupils gain hands-on experience of the natural world through the Earth Centre, whose work has earned the Eco-Schools Green Flag with Distinction, and through STEM, where the Space Education Gold Quality Mark reflects the depth of what they explore.

What GCSEs can my child take?
Every pupil takes English, Maths and Science, then chooses three options from across STEM, the arts, languages and humanities, the Earth Centre and vocational courses, with BTEC, NCFE and CamNat routes alongside GCSEs. The GCSE Subjects page lists the full offer.
