Three units build knowledge of the body, training and performance:
- R180: injury prevention and the body's response, including warm-up and cool-down routines and treating common injuries
- R181: designing and evaluating fitness training programmes
- R182: the body's response to physical activity and the role of technology in sport

Assessment is 40% written exam and 60% coursework, so much of the qualification is built from applied, practical work completed during Years 10 and 11.
Where it leads
Where it leads
The course prepares pupils for the Sixth Form Cambridge Technical in Sport (OCR, Level 3, 100% coursework), available across the Introductory Diploma, Diploma and Extended Diploma routes. It connects with the Sport strand of the Expansive Curriculum, the Kingsley Sport Academies and sport scholarships.
