The course spans social, political, economic, cultural, and military history across three papers:
- Paper 1: Medicine in Britain c1250 to present, with the British sector of the Western Front 1914 to 1918.
- Paper 2: Superpower Relations and the Cold War 1941 to 1991, and Early Elizabethan England 1558 to 1588.
- Paper 3: Weimar and Nazi Germany 1918 to 1939.
Students learn to analyse evidence and evaluate competing interpretations of the past.

Assessment is by three written papers covering the topics above, in line with the current Edexcel specification.
Where it leads
Where it leads
History progresses to A Level History in the Sixth Form, a route many students take. The skills of argument and analysis it develops support a wide range of further study and careers, from law and journalism to public service and research. It pairs well with Geography for students drawn to the wider humanities.
