What you'll study
Pupils explore theatrical styles and practitioners, work on at least two complete plays and attend live theatre. The course has three components:
- Component 1, Devising Theatre: a devised piece created from a stimulus, with a supporting portfolio
- Component 2, Performing a Text: two extracts performed for a visiting examiner, with a statement of artistic intentions
- Component 3, a written exam on DNA by Dennis Kelly, plus an evaluation of a live production seen in Year 11

How it's assessed
Components 1 and 2 are practical and completed during the course. Component 3 is the written exam sat at the end of Year 11. Together they reward both performance and an understanding of how theatre is made.

Where it leads
Drama supports progression to further performing arts study in the Sixth Form and beyond. It connects to the Performing Arts strand of the Expansive Curriculum, recognised with Artsmark Silver, through plays and concerts across the year.
