The course is organised into three components:
- Component 1 The Physical Environment: UK coastal and river landscapes, weather hazards and climate change, and ecosystems.
- Component 2 The Human Environment: changing cities, global development, and resource management.
- Component 3 Geographical Investigations: two fieldwork enquiries, one physical and one human, alongside a contemporary UK challenge.
Throughout, students develop critical thinking, data interpretation, and practical fieldwork skills. The North Devon coast and its UNESCO Biosphere setting serve as a living learning resource.

Assessment covers the three components, with the Geographical Investigations drawing on two fieldwork enquiries completed during the course. Full details follow the current Edexcel specification.

Where it leads
Geography opens progression to A Level Geography in the Sixth Form and further study beyond. It links naturally to the Earth Centre strand of the Expansive Curriculum and to the Advanced Pathways for students planning their next steps.
