Pupils build a body of work through a personal journal, researching, analysing, experimenting and recording as they go. Over the two years they:
- work across a range of media and techniques
- study artists, craftspeople, photographers and designers from different periods and cultures
- take part in workshops led by visiting artists and gallery visits run by the department

The course has two components. The Personal Portfolio is coursework, developed across the two years. The Externally Set Task is completed under a 10-hour supervised assessment. Both are marked by staff and moderated by OCR.
Where it leads
Where it leads
Art supports progression to further creative study in the Sixth Form and beyond, across fine art, design, photography and related fields. It also connects to the Performing Arts strand of the Expansive Curriculum, recognised with Artsmark Silver, where pupils exhibit and share their work.
