Environmental sustainability is the cornerstone of a Kingsley education. The Earth Centre Pathway runs in dedicated Expansive Curriculum sessions and is integrated across Key Stages 1 to 5, building knowledge and responsibility year on year and carrying the Better Me, Better World idea into real work pupils do for the school and the wider world.

Gardens, an Ecology Zone and active rewilding
The pathway draws on the school’s own commercial-scale market gardens, an award-winning Ecology Zone and active rewilding, within the UNESCO North Devon Biosphere. Every pupil takes part and progresses at a level that suits them, and the work is real: growing food, auditing wildlife and shaping how the school runs.

The pathway is taught outdoors wherever it can be. Pupils work in the school gardens and Ecology Zone, and the coast and moor around us give them a field site within a short drive.
The work is real, and it is recognised: Kingsley holds the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award with Distinction and the ISA 2024 Award for Excellence in Sustainability.
