GCSE Mathematics

GCSE Maths is a core qualification taken by every student at Kingsley, following the AQA specification and running across Years 9 to 11. The extended course gives the Kingsley Family a steady pace of learning and plenty of time to build confidence before Year 11 revision, supported by small classes and in-class help.

What you'll study

The course covers the full breadth of the subject:

Number
Algebra
Ratio and proportion
Geometry and measures
Probability and statistics

Students are entered at Foundation tier (grades 1 to 5) or Higher tier (grades 3 to 9) according to the pace that suits them best.

How it's assessed

Assessment is by three papers of 1 hour 30 minutes, each worth 80 marks, with no calculator allowed on Paper 1. The qualification is 100 percent examination with no coursework.

Where it leads

Maths progresses to A Level Mathematics in the Sixth Form, where a grade 6 at Higher tier is typically required. It underpins the STEM subjects, supports study in Science and Engineering, and opens a wide range of academic and vocational routes.

How to choose it
