- Food safety
- Food choice
- Food provenance
A strong grounding in food safety and hygiene runs through the whole course.

The qualification splits roughly evenly between practical cooking tasks and written work, in line with the current NCFE Level 2 Food & Cookery specification.
Where it leads
Where it leads
The course progresses to the Sixth Form Level 3 AAQ in Food Science and Nutrition (WJEC), and opens routes into hospitality, catering, and nutrition careers.

Food & Cookery is selected through the GCSE options process at the end of Year 9, chosen within the option blocks alongside a student's other subjects. To see the kitchens and meet the department, we warmly invite you to book a visit.
