What you will study
The course covers four integrated themes across micro and macroeconomics:
Economics combines well with A-Level Mathematics. Some universities do not accept Economics alongside Business Studies, so check course requirements when you apply.
- how markets work, market failure and government intervention
- UK economic performance, including aggregate demand and supply, national income and economic growth
- business economics, including business growth and objectives, revenues, costs and profits, market structures and the labour market
- global economics, including international economics, poverty and inequality, emerging and developing economies and the financial sector
How it is assessed
Assessment is by written examination across the AQA papers, testing your understanding of theory and your ability to apply it to current economic issues.
