The kind of young person we are looking for
We are looking for young people with a demonstrable interest in environmentalism or sustainability. You may have worked or volunteered on a relevant project or activity, or already undertaken some study or research of your own. You will have some knowledge and understanding of the UNESCO Biosphere of North Devon and of the UNESCO Sustainable Development Goals.
What a scholar receives
- Mentoring and support from our Earth Centre Manager.
- A related project at your stage: an Extended Project Qualification in the Sixth Form, a Higher Project Qualification at Key Stage 4, or a school-based project and presentation at Key Stages 2 and 3.
- A speaking slot at the Kingsley Earth Centre Day each September.
- The chance to lead specific environmental and sustainability projects across the school.
- Active membership of the Earth Centre Society, with weekly meetings, events and lectures, and a hand in the Earth Centre blog, social media and media releases.
What to send, and by when
Complete the Scholarship Application Form with a personal statement, references, and any relevant certificates and supporting documents. To receive an invitation for a scholarship interview, you must complete the application by 31st October 2026.
Generous, and awarded case by case
Mentoring from the Earth Centre Manager, a supervised project in the form of an Extended Project Qualification, a Higher Project Qualification or a school-based project depending on your stage, and a leading role in the school's environmental and sustainability work.
