Direct from Kingsley School Devon, where we’ve been enjoying glorious sunshine and another action-packed week across campus.

We begin with an exciting update from the sports field as preparations get underway for the launch of our new Sixth Form Football Scholarship Programme. This initiative, in partnership with the Ferdinand Collective, promises to bring even more opportunity and talent development to Kingsley. One of our football scholars even had the opportunity to train directly with Rio and Anton Ferdinand this week – a remarkable experience.

In outdoor education, we are celebrating the incredible achievements of our Ten Tors teams. The Jubilee Challenge Plus, 35-mile and 45-mile groups all completed their demanding Dartmoor expeditions over the weekend after months of dedication and training. The resilience, teamwork and determination shown by all involved was truly outstanding.

Our students also shone in athletics at the North Devon Championships, with students from Year 7 through to Year 12 competing across a variety of track and field events. There were medal wins, personal bests and brilliant sportsmanship all round – a huge well done to everyone who took part.

Our judoka continued their run of success at the latest inter-schools tournament. We saw gold, silver and bronze medals awarded across multiple age groups, adding to what has already been a hugely successful year for our judoka.

In team sports, our Under 13 cricket team celebrated a fantastic win this week, while our Under 12 and Under 13 rounders teams enjoyed victories in their fixtures too. Special mention goes to all players for their energy, enthusiasm and teamwork.

In the arts, we send our very best wishes to Year 13 drummer Freddie, who is performing live at The Palladium Club in Bideford this weekend. It’s wonderful to see our musicians sharing their talents with the wider community.

This week also marks the start of public examinations for our Year 11 and Year 13 students. We’d like to wish all students the very best in their GCSE and A-level papers. Your hard work, focus and perseverance are truly commendable.

Finally, a reminder to parents and carers that Speech Day is now just one week away. Please ensure you RSVP if you haven’t already – we look forward to welcoming you for a special celebration of student achievement and a fantastic event in our school calendar.
