Mr Pavis' Video Newsletter: Friday 6th November

‍

‍

This week’s newsletter comes to you with a sneak preview of tonight’s fireworks. It’s Friday 6th November, so remember, remember, but with no gunpowder at the Kingsley fireworks this year. That makes the display more environmentally friendly and kinder to our pets too. It’s going to be cold, so wrap up warm. I’ll be wearing my Kingsley hat for the occasion, and if you haven’t got one yet, they’re available in the school shop and make a great Christmas present.

‍

It’s been a brilliant week for sport. Following Ruby’s success in joining the Devon Women’s Under 15 rugby training squad, we now have George and Charlie selected for the Under 18 boys’ Devon County rugby training squads, so well done to both. Jacob, Joe, George and Henry M have made it through to the Under 15 Exeter Chiefs development pathway squad, and Henry W has joined the Bristol Bears Under 15 development squad. Nobody for Gloucester yet, but we’ll get there one day.

‍

Closer to home, our Under 13s picked up a win against St Joseph’s today, with George named Player of the Match. Our senior team beat a Blundell’s B side this week, with Harry taking Man of the Match. Our Under 18 footballers went down 1-0 in the second round of the National Cup in Gloucestershire, and our Under 14s lost to Torpoint in the second round of the English Schools FA Cup, where Harrison was Player of the Match. Well done to everyone for representing the school in national competitions.

‍

Our cross-country runners were in action at the North Devon Schools Cross Country, bringing home one gold and two silvers. Henry M, Dante, Carenza, Elsa, Henry H and Olivia have all qualified for the North Devon finals later this term. In the ISA South West swimming competitions we picked up four golds, two silvers and three bronzes, and we’re now waiting to hear how many of our swimmers have made it through to the national finals at the Olympic pool in London later this term. Fingers crossed!

‍

This weekend, many of our musicians are taking their ABRSM exams here at Kingsley. We hope the new music department and music centre will pay great dividends on the way to those grades, so good luck to you all.

‍

That’s everything for this week. See you again soon. Bye for now.
