Mr Pavis' Video Newsletter: Friday 13th June
Hello and welcome to this week's newsletter!
This week’s video newsletter comes to you from our dedicated Wellbeing Room in the Stella Maris Centre — a calm, welcoming space created for students to pause, recharge, and care for their mental health.
It’s one of many initiatives that contributed to a major achievement for Kingsley School: we’ve officially been awarded the Wellbeing Award for Schools. This prestigious recognition reflects our deep commitment to supporting the wellbeing of both students and staff, through our ethos, curriculum, Earth Centre projects, and everyday pastoral care. Thank you to everyone who contributed — including the parents who took part in the award process.
We also celebrated a rich week of activities across school life. Our Spanish boarders hosted an evening feast for fellow students, cooking up a delicious selection of traditional dishes in partnership with the school’s catering team. You can read on about that here!

Elsewhere, students harvested vegetables they’d been growing as part of our Earth Centre programme — and were proud to see them served in the dining hall. Year 11 students received their leavers’ hoodies as they near the end of GCSE exams, while Year 13 students begin the final stretch of A-levels and BTECs before celebrating at their leavers’ dinner next week.
There’s been fantastic success in sport too. The inter-school swimming competitions saw an impressive 13 golds, 7 silvers, and a bronze medal. At the North Devon athletics finals, students brought home 10 more medals and an overall second-place team result.
In cricket, our teams continued to grow in strength and spirit, and footballers across the school were thrilled to meet Anton Ferdinand, who spent the afternoon on the pitch as part of our ongoing partnership with the Ferdinand Collective and FC Devon.
It’s been a week full of purpose, connection, and celebration — and there’s still more to come. Thank you for tuning in, and we look forward to sharing more with you next week.
Mr Robert James Pavis
