Weekly Newsletter | Orchard Blossoms, Surfing Sunsets & National Theatre Hopes

This week’s newsletter comes to you from outside Belvoir House, our warm and welcoming girls’ boarding house—home to 30 of our incredible students. Nestled beside it is our blossoming new eco-orchard, which we hope will deliver a bumper crop of apples later this year!

Our boarders have been busy soaking up spring sunshine—cycling along the Tarka Trail, indulging in ice cream at Instow, paintballing, surfing, and even catching a stunning sunset session at Croyde, all thanks to our Surf Academy team. This weekend, they’ll be horse riding too!

In Outdoor Ed, we’re cheering on three student teams tackling the grueling 17-mile Exmoor Challenge this weekend. Meanwhile, surfers have been making the most of the clean waves and enjoying their new student-designed and built skate ramp—part of a fantastic cross-curricular project with the STEM department.

Parents, don’t miss out—our Surf Academy now runs dedicated sessions for you too! Join us Thursdays from 9–11am and get involved.

In sports, we’re celebrating Grace for completing the Manchester Marathon—what an achievement! Our Year 11s also earned bronze in the North Devon Indoor Athletics competition, and congratulations to Sam who has secured a place on the Devon U17 rugby team!

In Performing Arts, our talented cast of Play 2.0 took their show to Exeter this week for the National Theatre competition—fingers crossed for a spot in London! We also hosted a sun-filled Scholars BBQ, bringing together our music, drama and art scholars for a relaxed evening of good food and fun.

Congratulations to our U12 netball team, who came second in their final tournament of the season. We now look forward to the upcoming Netball Awards Evening to celebrate everyone’s hard work and success.

And finally, we hope to see many of you at our Kingsley May Fayre this Monday from 1–4pm! Expect stalls, games, competitions, and plenty of scones, cake and tea. It’s set to be a brilliant afternoon of community celebration under sunny skies.
