Welcome to this week’s Kingsley School video newsletter

The first of our final half term of the academic year!

A special welcome goes out to all Year 6 parents and families following Wednesday’s Year 6 to 7 Transition Information Evening. It was a pleasure to meet many of you, and we’re excited to welcome your children to the senior school in September. These weekly video newsletters will now be part of your routine too – giving you a glimpse into school life, student success, and everything happening across campus.

This week, our Year 11 and Year 13 students remain focused on public exams, with Year 7–9 students also beginning their end-of-year assessments. Year 12 Sports Science students took part in an exciting day of academic enrichment at Bath University, while our Under 16 netball team celebrated two strong victories in the North Devon Summer Netball League.

In Performing Arts, our talented Year 10 Drama students took their powerful performance of The Dramatists to the Queen’s Theatre in Barnstaple as part of the North Devon Theastival – earning praise and gaining valuable theatre experience. Meanwhile, congratulations go to Ruby, who passed her Grade 5 harp exam with merit following a beautiful performance at Speech Day.

On the sports field, Kingsley students competed in the second round of the Inter-Schools Athletics events, and we’re eagerly awaiting the final results as many students prepare for county-level competitions.

The Surf Academy is also in full swing. This unique program helps students build confidence and resilience through surfing, skate surf, water safety, creative projects, and hands-on board shaping. Many pupils are progressing through the badge system and enjoying Thursday morning surf sessions with parents – a brilliant way to build community and wellbeing.

Also this week: scone baking with Years 7 and 8 (my favourite treat), and the launch of our 2026 Ski Trip to Sälen, Sweden – now open for signups.
