It’s been an unforgettable week here at Kingsley, with our spectacular production of Mary Poppins taking centre stage in the theatre. The performances were nothing short of extraordinary — full of joy, energy, and pure theatrical magic. From the opening number to the final bow, the cast lifted the rafters and filled the room with applause, laughter, and emotion.

Congratulations to every single student involved in bringing this production to life. The dedication, teamwork, and passion shown since rehearsals began last summer have been remarkable. The result was a performance that perfectly captured the heart of Kingsley — creativity, collaboration, and courage. A special mention must go to Mr Trythall and the entire band, whose seamless live accompaniment made the show feel truly professional. The coordination between the musicians, singers, and dancers was incredible and a real highlight of the week.

Our Music and Drama Scholars also deserve huge recognition for setting the standard, both on stage and behind the scenes. Their leadership and professionalism have inspired the younger performers, showing exactly what it means to be a Kingsley role model. It’s been a proud moment for everyone — students, staff, and families alike — and one we’ll remember for years to come.

In sport, there was success across multiple teams this week. The U15 footballers celebrated a strong win, while the U18s clinched a thrilling victory thanks to a last-minute winner — congratulations to Liam, named Player of the Match. The U16 netball team showed great determination despite a close defeat, with Annabelle taking Player of the Match honours. Our U13 footballers also picked up a win, with Griff recognised for an outstanding performance. Meanwhile, our Year 7 and 8 netball teams were in action again on Thursday, with results still coming in — more on that next week!

Beyond the pitch, our Year 7 geographers impressed everyone by arriving in full explorer outfits for their Stretch and Challenge assessment day — a creative and engaging initiative from the Geography department that made learning both fun and memorable. Coming up later this term, our music students in Key Stage 4 and 5 will take part in special workshops with a visiting practitioner, designed to stretch and inspire their musical development even further.

It’s another busy weekend ahead for Kingsley. Our Swell Chasers will be heading out to the coast, Year 6, 7, and 8 students are completing their Exmoor Challenge practice day, and our Judoka are competing at the Western Area Judo Championships. Meanwhile, our cross-country runners are representing the school at the South West Schools Championships, and our boarders are in for an adventurous weekend with zip wiring at the Eden Project and whitewater rafting.
