This week at Kingsley, the two words I keep hearing from students — opportunities and friendliness — really have been brought to life in every corner of school life.

We kicked off last Friday with our Under 13 Indoor Athletics Championships here at Kingsley, where our Under 13s came away with a well-earned third place. Then on Sunday came some truly brilliant news: Ellie-May competed in the South West and South Wales regional round of the Young Chef of the Year competition and finished in second place out of the top four competitors from across the entire region. We are so proud of you, Ellie-May.

Our Ten Tors training team were also out on Dartmoor last Sunday, continuing their preparation for later in the year. It's exactly the kind of challenge you'll remember for the rest of your lives — keep going.

In rugby, our Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18 sevens teams travelled to London for the Rosslyn Park National Sevens — the largest rugby tournament in the world. They acquitted themselves fantastically against some of the finest teams from across the UK and beyond. Standout players were Rowan and Sam for the Under 18s, Seb and Jake for the Under 16s, and Perin, Leon and Matthew for the Under 14s. Every single one of you did Kingsley proud.

Our Under 15 netballers had a superb week, winning both of their fixtures, with Izzy, Gracie and Lucera recognised as standout players. Our Under 19 netballers drew one and lost one, with Mia, Annabel, Willow and Maisie shining throughout. In football, our Under 15s narrowly lost their fixture, while our Under 18s returned to winning ways with a victory over Richard Huish College in the AOC League.

Our AS Drama students and A-Level and GCSE Art students completed their examined practical sections this week — I know you've done brilliantly. And to all of our Year 11 and Year 13 students: your mocks were fantastic. Keep going over Easter and go into the summer examinations ready to show exactly what you're capable of.

The Kingsley Community Youth Theatre performed their production of Animals in the theatre this week as part of the National Theatre Connections Festival — an incredible opportunity, and we're keeping everything crossed for the next round. And today we're delighted to welcome the world-renowned Fibonacci String Quartet to Kingsley for a workshop with our musicians, joined by students from schools across North Devon. Building aspiration, one extraordinary experience at a time.

This evening also sees the start of the Judoka Junior Grand Prix Round One — good luck to everyone involved. And a special mention to our Under 11 mixed netball team, who won seven of their games in an inter-schools tournament, only narrowly missing out on the final by a single goal. The future is very bright indeed.
