Mr Pavis' Video Newsletter: Friday 25th September

This week's newsletter comes to you from a very long way away, as our Head meets prospective families and students interested in joining Kingsley later this year and for the next academic year. Back at base, it's been an action packed week, starting with Languages Awareness Week - a huge thank you to the MFL department for the fantastic spelling bee and the much enjoyed French breakfast. Our geographers returned from their trip to Iceland last weekend, and today our Heads of School, Rafe, Amber, Goose and Rowan, are away at the Young Leaders Conference at Wells Cathedral School. A big thank you also to everyone involved in Tuesday's Year 7 Open Day - a packed house and a fantastic event, made possible by our Year 9s and Sixth Formers, who were superb ambassadors for the school.

It's been a busy week for sport too. Our Year 9 and Year 10 FA Cup teams both came away with victories, with Oscar and Henry M named Players of the Game. Our Senior Football team drew in their first National League game of the season down at Truro and Penwith College, with Riley Player of the Game. Our Year 8s and Connect Centre students both fought hard but came away second best in their fixtures, with Henry S and Vinny standout performers.

Congratulations to our 1st XV rugby team, who beat a very strong Taunton School under the lights on Wednesday evening - a superb match, thoroughly enjoyed by all who came along to support. Our netball teams were also in fine form, with wins across the Under 15 A's, B's and C's, and the Under 12 A's against Holsworthy - well done to Izzy, Willow, Rihanna and Frankie and all players of the game.

We also enjoyed a fantastic trip to watch the Women's England rugby team take on Canada down at Sandy Park last weekend. Huge congratulations to Ruby, our first female rugby scholar at Kingsley, who has now been selected for Devon County training camps - we look forward to seeing you in an England shirt one day. Congratulations too to Julia in Year 11, who has made it through to the South West Fireballs volleyball squad and will now be training with the region's elite players in Exeter.

Today, pretty much the whole school is taking part in our very first Colour Run, raising money and awareness for Tabitha's Smile, the charity we proudly support - a colourful and fun packed afternoon for everyone involved. This weekend our boarders are off to Sandy Park again to watch Chiefs versus Gloucester, and our Judo novices are also in action - good luck to all of you.
