It’s been another busy and inspiring week here at Kingsley — one filled with creativity, achievement, and excitement both in and out of the classroom.

We began the week with a brilliant whole-school assembly from the Mary Poppins cast, featuring Bessy, Imogene, Lincoln, Lucy, Grace, and Wilbur performing one of the show’s big musical numbers. The energy and talent on stage set the perfect tone for what promises to be an unforgettable production later this term. Tickets are now on sale, so make sure to secure your seats early — this is one not to miss!

On Tuesday, the school hosted our annual Careers Fair, where students from Year 7 through to Year 13 met exhibitors from a wide range of industries and professions. It was fantastic to see so much curiosity, ambition, and engagement from our students as they explored future pathways. A big thank you to all the organisations, parents, and staff who helped make the day such a success.

Year 9 parents also joined us this week for their consultation evening — a wonderful opportunity to connect with teachers, review progress, and discuss upcoming GCSE option choices ahead of forms being finalised in the coming weeks.

In sport, it’s been a packed and exciting few days. The Senior Football team faced a tough fixture against Yeovil, with Zach earning Player of the Match for his standout performance. The U14 boys also showed great resilience in their match against Trinity, with the final score 4–1 despite an impressively close contest. Meanwhile, the U11 netball team triumphed in their B tournament — a fantastic achievement that highlights how strong the future of netball at Kingsley continues to look.

Our U18 and U16 netball teams were also in fine form, each playing two fixtures against Shebbear and coming away with a win apiece — Kerenza and Lily named Players of the Match for their superb efforts.

Last weekend saw our Judoka shine at the Welsh Open, coming home with an incredible medal haul: seven golds, one silver, and two bronzes. Congratulations to David, Otis, Louis, Austin, Willow, Mia, and Connie, all of whom won their categories — a phenomenal performance and a proud moment for the school. Best of luck to everyone competing again at the Midlands Open this weekend!

On the rugby front, our Girls’ team defeated Shebbear in an exciting and muddy midweek match, showing great teamwork and spirit. Our Senior Rugby team also celebrated a major achievement at the Devon Schools Tournament, beating both Truro and Mount Kelly in the semifinals and finals to take home the Shield Trophy — now proudly displayed in the Kingsley cabinet.

In cross-country, the ISA Schools competition and Devon Schools finals were sadly postponed due to weather, but there’s still great news to celebrate: Henry has been selected to represent Devon at the Inter-Counties National Finals in March — an incredible honour and achievement.

Looking ahead, it’s shaping up to be a busy weekend once again. Our gymnasts will compete in the Milano South West Tournament here in the Sports Hall, our judoka travel north for the Midlands Open, and our Surf Academy will be out chasing waves. Meanwhile, boarders can look forward to a weekend of fun with roller disco and rock climbing sessions.
