Welcome to this week's Video Newsletter!

This week at Kingsley has been packed with celebration, achievement, and fresh energy. Following last week’s stunning performances from our drama, music, and art scholars, we continue to shine a light on the creative work happening across the school. The inter-house art competition has just wrapped up, and we’re eagerly awaiting the results — a great way to round off a term of transformation in the art studios.

Our judoka had a brilliant showing at the West of England event, taking home an impressive five golds, four silvers, and four bronzes. Even more exciting, six of our students have now qualified for the national finals in March. In other sporting news, the Ten Tors trainees have started their long training journey with a scenic stretch from Westward Ho! to Clovelly. Huge kudos to those braving the cold and early mornings in preparation for May.

Girls’ rugby also saw some great action this week, with our U16 and U13 teams playing friendlies against St Joseph’s. A big well done to Olivia and Iva, who picked up Player of the Match in their respective games. Meanwhile, our senior boys rugby team played Blundell's in a closely fought game, with special mentions to George, Sam, and Harrison for standout performances. On the football pitch, our senior team remain unbeaten in the national leagues, having just overtaken Callywith College to claim first place — an outstanding achievement.

We’re also delighted to welcome two new faces to the Kingsley coaching team. Amy Garnett, former England captain and World Cup winner, has joined us as a rugby coach, and Kyle from FC Devon is now offering strength and conditioning sessions five days a week. Their expertise is already making a difference.

Further congratulations go to Fay and Tiger, who helped secure a national team championship in the Classic Challenge finals — and to our alumna Maddie, who was also part of the winning team. Year 10 health and social care students also deserve a round of applause for earning their food hygiene certifications this week.

Boarders have an exciting weekend ahead: the boys are heading off to the Exeter Chiefs vs Bristol rugby match, while the girls will be enjoying a trip to Bude for a splash session, bowling, and dinner. And finally, we wish continued good luck to our Year 11 and Year 13 students deep into their mock exams — the finish line is in sight, and we’re proud of all your hard work.
