Welcome to this week’s video newsletter from Kingsley School!

This edition comes to you from our nursery, where we reflect on the incredible journeys of our students — from their earliest days at Kingsley to saying goodbye to our Year 13 leavers at their special dinner in Westward Ho! and to our Year 11s at prom. Many of these students began their Kingsley adventure right here at our nursery, and we’re excited to announce plans to expand and rebrand the nursery later this year, ready to welcome children from nine months old.

In sport, we are thrilled to celebrate our athletes’ outstanding achievements at the ISA National Finals at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham — home of the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Representing Kingsley were George, Kerenza, Henry, Henry, and another Henry, Johanna, and Alfie, who all competed against the best from over 660 schools nationwide. George in Year 10 delivered a brilliant performance in the 800m, just missing out on a top 10 finish. Kerenza placed an incredible 7th in the country in the 1500m, while Henry in Year 10 achieved 4th in the high jump, Henry M secured 5th place in the 600m, and Henry S placed 7th in the howler throw. Johanna shone in the long jump with a silver medal, taking 2nd place nationally, and Alfie in Year 7 stole the show with gold in the 200m and silver in the 100m — a remarkable achievement - a reminder that all of these positions are ranked out of the entire country! We are so proud of every one of them for their determination, skill, and sportsmanship. We’re also eagerly awaiting final confirmation of our gymnastics team results at the English Schools competition, where our athletes placed in the top ten across several categories.

On the academic and creative front, our geographers have been exploring poetry, our food and catering students marked National Fudge Day with delicious creations, and Duke of Edinburgh students are busy planning their expeditions. Meanwhile, rehearsals are in full swing for the school play on Monday, and preparations are underway for Scholars Day and Kingsley Entertains — two evenings set to showcase the immense talent in our arts, music, and drama programmes.

Finally, good luck to all our surfers competing at Ocean Fest this weekend! With so much success and joy across the school, it’s no wonder our students are thriving — especially as we continue to build on our Wellbeing Award for Schools recognition.
