From grassroots to elite, Kingsley Devon is breathing surfing. Surfing is part of the curriculum, so every student will get in the water and experience the benefit of surfing. Through your tuition in Kingsley, you will learn the basics of water knowledge, water confidence and surfing. If you want to take it further, several options are open. Join our surf club for extra ses- sions or go for a deep dive into the surf industry and high-level coaching by joining our one-of-a-kind Surf Academy.

A surfing school, not a surf school

Yes, you will be surfing during your PE lessons! We aim for every student to have a chance to appreciate the benefit of the ocean and the joy of surfing. During your PE Games time, several sessions during the year will give you the basics of coastal water knowledge and water confidence. From years 1 to 13, all our students will have surf lessons and benefit from the ocean.

Surf Club

Surf more and master your surf basics!

The surf club is a staple of Kingsley, and over the last 14 years, hundreds of pupils have had the opportunity to develop their water and surfing knowledge further. Taking place after school, on a Wednesday for the Senior school and Tuesday for the Junior school, it is perfect for the pupils that want to get extra surfing in! Fun, recreational and informative; the aim is to consolidate your surf basics and have fun!

The surf Academy exists with the surf industry in mind. We surf, yes – but that's not all – there's a Shaping Bay, Water Photography, SurFit Sessions, and Support and Training to becoming a surf instructor at the heart of everything we do. The purpose-built building gives you an insight into what is available to you as a surf professional and prepares you for a career within the surf industry.

Boarding is like living in a surfing family

Our boarding aim is to be the best home away from home, and Kingsley is your home located just 5 minutes from one of North Devon's best and safest beaches where our boarders can enjoy all the benefits of the ocean.

The benefits on our mental well-being of living a lifestyle near the sea are well documented. Combining this with the sport of surfing enhances the positive effects and is now often prescribed by doctors to aid mental health. There is tons of opportunity if they like spending more time in the water than on land, from weekends, after school and half-term sessions, to dedicated holiday camps. We deliver it all.

Blue Mind is a term that refers to the state of calm, peacefulness and overall well-being that people experience when they are near, in or on water. It encom- passes the physiological and psychological benefits of being near water.

Holiday Surf Lessons

Book yourself a surf experience this holiday

Open to all Kingsley Families and friends, book a surf lesson with us, have a great time in the water, and learn more about surfing as a whole. We will meet at the Surf Academy to get ready to go down the beach; all equipment is included. We work on dry land input using our purpose-built facilities, and then we drive you down to Westward Ho!, where we run our surf sessions.

Experience all the surf academy resources over the course of our residential holiday surf camps.

Outstanding experience for all young passionate surfers, we will hit the surf everyday and come back to the Kingsley Surf Academy to do surf related workshops and activities. Coaching, shaping, workshops, water photography, surf skate...
