University Seminar-style Approach

Developing an enquiring mind

Students on the programme will meet weekly to explore a range of topics and issues designed to stretch and challenge students' learning outside of the curriculum. Pre-learning will be required before most sessions so that students convene ready to debate and challenge popular thinking and commonly-accepted concepts about local, regional, national and global issues.

Rather than learning to recite facts and textbook knowledge, students will develop discursive argument skills, and key critical and analytical thinking skills to set them apart from the competition for top university places.

Specialist Programme Tutor

Whilst you will be a member of a regular Sixth Form tutor group at Kingsley, you will also attend weekly sessions with the Headmaster, Mr Pavis MA Ed (Dunelm), who personally delivers this prestigious programme. By understanding your academic profile and aspirations, we will help you to strategise about which universities to apply to. Knowing which universtities deliver the right course for you will help ensure your future success.

Enhancing your Profile

Top universities expect that students have accessed a wide range of additional learning opportunities. Mr Pavis will guide you through your wider reading, EPQ research, online lecture programmes, relevant podcasts and Ted Talks. You will also be advised on relevant work experience opportunities which you can complete throughout your time in the Sixth Form.

Entrance Examination Preparation

You will receive support and practice for specialist entry examinations. These may be for law or medicine, or for entry to Oxford or Cambridge Universities. You will also be guided on appropriate MOOC qualifications which you may also like to take in your holiday periods.
 

Interview Training

You will learn how to deliver an outstanding performance in your university interview. You will visit Oxford on a one-night residential and undergo interview training at Greene's College to improve your confidence, presentation and responses to questions that are designed to challenge your thinking.

Apply for the Top Universities Programme

To apply for this unique programme, please complete a Scholarship Application Form. Criteria for entry is 8 GCSEs at grades 7-9, with a grade 8-9 in the subjects you wish to study at A level. Equivalent international qualifications are accepted.

You will be required to submit (upload) your latest school report with grades and latest predictions, and a reference from your current school with your application.
