Kingsley School Devon Pupils Shine at South West Modern Foreign Languages Public Speaking Competition 2025

We are incredibly proud of Lincoln, Imogen and Lucera, all from Year 9 at Kingsley School Devon, for representing us at the South West MFL Public Speaking Competition 2025. Competing alongside students from across the South West, they showcased their impressive language skills and confidence on stage.

Kingsley School Devon has a strong tradition of encouraging language learning, and our students rose to the challenge brilliantly. Lincoln and Imogen took part in the KS3 non-native category, while Lucera, who is bilingual, competed in the near-native category. Each student delivered a fantastic speech:

Lincoln entertained the audience with an engaging speech in French about his family.

Imogen spoke confidently in Spanish about her hobbies.

Lucera delivered a heartfelt speech in Spanish about how her brother has inspired her.

All three were an absolute credit to the Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) Department at Kingsley School Devon and to the school as a whole. We are especially delighted to congratulate Lincoln, who won the KS3 non-native category! Bravo!

A huge thank you to Miss Williams, and the MFL team at Kingsley, for their commitment to supporting and preparing the students for this competition. At Kingsley we believe in providing students with enriching experiences that enhance their confidence, cultural awareness, and language proficiency.

If you are a Senior School pupil at Kingsley and would like to represent the school in next year’s competition, please register your interest with Miss Williams. You can present in French, Spanish, German, Polish, Italian, or Mandarin – so why not take part and develop your public speaking skills?

Congratulations again to Lincoln, Imogen, and Lucera.
