Summary

The Cambridge National in Creative iMedia (Level 1/2) at Kingsley provides students with essential skills and knowledge in digital media, preparing them for further study or careers in the creative industry. Students will learn to design, plan, create, and review digital media products, working with real-world briefs and practical projects.

Course Detials

Suitable for both Level 1 and Level 2 learners, this course follows a mix of written exam and coursework (NEA) formats. It consists of:

Mandatory Units

  • Unit R093: Creative iMedia in the Media Industry – an externally assessed exam (40%) covering topics like media sectors, job roles, audience demographics, legal issues, and pre-production planning. 

  • Unit R094: Visual Identity and Digital Graphics – internally assessed coursework (30%) where students plan, design, create, and export digital graphics to meet client needs. 

Additional Unit

Alongside the mandatory units, students will complete one further unit selected from the following options:

  • Characters and Comics (R095)

  • Animation and Audio (R096)

  • Interactive Digital Media (R097)

  • Visual Imaging (R098)

  • Digital Games (R099).

This ensures learners gain experience in a specific area of digital media, chosen to complement the overall course structure.

Assessment

The qualification is a combination of exam-based (Unit R093) and coursework-based (Units R094 and selected optional unit), ensuring a balance between testing theoretical understanding and practical abilities. 40% of the grade is exam based with 60% being from assessed coursework.
