Kingsley students smash records to reach top 25% nationally

Kingsley School Devon is celebrating an outstanding set of A Level and Vocational BTEC results this week, with students beating the school's own academic records for the second year running.

Kingsley has now been placed officially in the top 25% of schools and colleges across the UK for academic achievement, earning an ALPS score of 3 on the ALPS (A Level Performance System) benchmark, one of the sector's most respected measures of student progress.

A day of celebration

Robert Pavis, Kingsley Headmaster, said the results reflected the hard work of the whole school community.

"This is a real day of celebration at Kingsley School. For the second year running, we've beaten all of our own records for A Level and vocational results, and we're now in the top 25% of schools in England and Wales for academic achievement. That's all down to the effort, dedication, hard work and aspiration of our students, and of course the support of their teachers and parents."

Standout subjects

Sports Science had a remarkable year, with every single student taking the subject, at single or double award, achieving a Distinction* (the BTEC equivalent of an A*). Together with English Literature, Sports Science placed Kingsley in the top 3% of schools nationally.

A wider group of subjects also excelled. Art, History, Maths, Spanish and Business all placed in the top 10% nationally, while Modern Foreign Languages achieved 100% A* to B. Art students had a particularly strong year, with 50% of grades at A*, and student Leo was commended by the exam board as among the very best art submissions in the country.

Mr Pavis added: "Every single one of our Sports Science students achieved a Distinction*, which puts Sports Science and English Literature in the top 3% nationally, with Art, History, Maths, Spanish and Business all in the top 10%. It's a phenomenal set of results and secures Top University choices for our students."
