Kingsley School Celebrates Best Ever Year at the ISA National Athletics Finals

Kingsley School pupils enjoyed an outstanding day at the ISA National Athletics Finals, held at the iconic Alexander Stadium on Monday 15th May. This was the national stage, where the very best young athletes from across the UK came together to compete, and Kingsley's pupils rose superbly to the challenge.

This year marked Kingsley School's best ever performance at the ISA National Athletics Finals, with an incredible five medals won and 15 pupils qualifying for the finals — a clear reflection of the strong all-round development of performance across Kingsley's sporting programme.

A Record-Breaking Year for Kingsley Athletics

Kingsley athletes produced a series of superb performances across track and field events, showing determination, skill and outstanding team spirit throughout the competition. To have 15 pupils qualify for the ISA National Finals and come away with five national medals is an exceptional achievement — proof of the strength, depth and ambition of sport at Kingsley.

Medal-Winning Performances: Jumps and Sprints

  • Perrin M. finished 2nd nationally in the Year 8–9 Boys High Jump with a leap of 1.66m, and added a 3rd place in the Year 8–9 Boys 200m, clocking 24.63 seconds.
  • Zach A. was crowned national champion in the Year 9 Boys Triple Jump, jumping an impressive 11.30m.
  • Leon L. took 3rd place in the Year 8–9 Boys 300m with a time of 39.97 seconds, as well as finishing 4th in the Long Jump with a distance of 5.17m.

Medal-Winning Performances: Throws

  • Ruby E. achieved an excellent 3rd place in the Year 8–9 Girls Shot Put with a throw of 8.53m.
  • John D. placed 5th in the Year 10–11 Boys Discus with 23.23m
  • Henry S. performed strongly in the Year 7 Boys Javelin, throwing 25.96m to finish 5th.
  • Distance Running: Resilience on the National Stage

Kingsley's distance runners showed tremendous resilience.

  • Henry M. finished 4th in the Year 7 Boys 1500m with an excellent time of 05:01.83.
  • Elsa S. ran well in the Year 7 Girls 800m, finishing 6th in 2:46.68
  • Juno P. placed 7th in the Year 10–11 Girls 1500m in 6:35.48.
  • Lucera B. also competed at the national finals in the Year 10–11 Girls 800m, finishing in 2:54.54.

Relay Teams Represent Kingsley with Pride

  • The Year 8–9 Boys 4x100m relay team, featuring Perrin M. and Leon L., finished 4th in 49.79 seconds, narrowly missing out on the medals in a highly competitive race.
  • The Year 7 Boys 4x100m relay team, including Henry S. and Henry M., finished 5th in 56.33 seconds.
  • In the younger age groups, Jude S. was part of the Year 5 Boys 4x100m relay team, which finished 7th in 1:04.32, gaining valuable experience on the national stage.

Other Strong Field Performances

Max M. finished 4th in the Year 6 Boys High Jump with a clearance of 1.21m. William S. and Martha-May L. also qualified for the national finals but were unfortunately unable to compete on the day.

What This Means for Kingsley Sport

The results are a true statement of Kingsley School's drive forward in sport. They reflect the hard work of the pupils, the commitment of the coaches, and the school's growing reputation for developing confident, competitive and high-performing young athletes. Every pupil who competed, qualified or contributed to this success should be extremely proud of their part in Kingsley's best athletics year to date.
