The Kingsley School Judo Team kicked off the new year in spectacular form with a standout performance at the Welsh Regional Schools Championships and the Red and Yellow Rumble, held at the Welsh Institute of Sport in Cardiff.
Against strong regional opposition, Kingsley’s young judoka showcased exceptional skill, spirit, and teamwork, earning 7 Gold, 1 Silver, and 2 Bronze medals, along with a commendable 5th-place finish.
The day began with the Red and Yellow Rumble, a development competition for younger athletes. Year 5 pupils Louis and Austin both took home Gold medals with confident performances, while Edith earned Silver, gaining valuable experience and resilience on the mat.
In the main event, Kingsley's judoka delivered across the board:
David stepped up a weight category to Under 73kg and took Gold with a gritty performance.
Otis, in the Under 55kg division, won all his contests to claim Gold as well.
Ezra, Kyra, and Reuben rounded off the Gold medal tally with outstanding efforts.
Mia (Year 7) and Willow (Year 9) added Bronzes to the haul.
Connie finished 5th, showing determination and huge promise for future events.
This event marks a powerful start to 2026 for the team, with sights now set on the Liverpool Open in February and the National Schools Finals in March.
