The start of the Autumn Term has seen Kingsley School return to competitive action with determination, passion, and a string of impressive results across a variety of sports. With fixtures and festivals taking place across the school, our students have risen to every challenge with enthusiasm and pride.
September saw Kingsley teams take part in 18 fixtures across Rugby, Girls’ Rugby, Football and Netball, securing 11 wins and only six losses. Individual athletes also excelled, with our Judo team bringing home five gold medals, alongside strong performances in Prep School tournaments.
The standout team of the month was undoubtedly our U14 Boys’ Rugby squad. In a superb series of performances, they won all four of their matches, overcoming Plymouth College, Torquay Boys’ Grammar, Taunton, and Millfield.
Their momentum continued with a comprehensive 45–7 victory over West Buckland in the semi-finals of the North Devon Schools Cup. With robust defence and creative attacking play, the team dominated the match from the outset. Henry earned Player of the Match for his commanding scrummaging and fearless tackling. The team now looks forward to a much-anticipated final against either Braunton or Park School.
Another exceptional achievement came from Kingsley School Judo Club, who were crowned overall champions at the Kazoku Trophy Cup in Newquay. Our judoka brought home 7 Gold, 3 Silver and 4 Bronze medals, a remarkable team result that placed Kingsley at the top of the medal table.
Every member of the team contributed to the club’s success, demonstrating technical excellence and strong sporting values. Special thanks go to Freddie for his contribution as a referee, representing Kingsley with professionalism and integrity throughout the event.
Our younger athletes also made their mark in Tag Rugby and Judo, participating in six festivals and tournaments. Their energy, teamwork and commitment reflected the school’s sport-for-all ethos.
With Girls’ Rugby, Netball and Football fixtures well underway, and the continued development of the FC Rise | Kingsley Devon football partnership, the first half of the term has laid a strong foundation for what promises to be an exciting year ahead.
