The Kingsley Surf Academy has concluded an unforgettable summer term, combining competitive success, coastal adventure, and the celebration of our thriving surf community.
During OceanFest Education Day, Kingsley proudly organised and delivered the 21st North Devon Schools Surfing Championship (NDSCC) at Croyde Bay. In perfect conditions, young surfers from across North Devon competed in a full day of surfing and coastal learning.
Our team achieved:
3rd place overall
2nd place in the team tag event
Oscar B. finished 4th in the individual final after an impressive run through the heats against Team England athletes.
Led by Charlie, with environmental activities coordinated by Mr Harty and team management by Madison, the day was a resounding success. Special thanks go to our incredible student volunteers, including those who supported the event before attending their prom the same evening.
To celebrate the end of term, our Surf Academy embarked on a week-long adventure across the South West, surfing daily at locations including Widemouth Bay, Harlyn, and Gwithian.
Highlights included:
Willow reached the semi-finals of the Bude Junior Series
Bodysurfing clean barrels alongside a curious seal
A final morning session of pure, pressure-free surfing together
The trip ended with a special awards ceremony presented by FCS, and every student from Year 1 to Year 13 proudly received their Kingsley Surf Academy badge and certificate.
This term has showcased the true spirit of our Academy: it’s not just surf - it’s a journey of growth, resilience, and belonging.
We’re not a surf school. We’re a surfing school.
